Yanzhuang Rose (Alias: Glamorous Rouge)
Yanzhuang Rose, also known as Glamorous Rouge, is a hybrid tea rose independently bred by Jiang Zhengzhi of China’s Tianlang Roses and officially launched in 2022. It is a high-performance floriferous variety favored by horticultural practitioners.
Plant Characteristics: The mature plant can reach a height of 90 – 120 cm. It grows rapidly with a spreading growth habit, but its branches are relatively soft. Due to the large and heavy flower clusters, the branches are prone to lodging in rainy weather and thus need support rods. It has excellent heat resistance, maintaining stable flowering even in high temperatures of 40°C, and shows strong resistance to thrips.
Flower Features: The flower diameter ranges from 10 – 15 cm. It boasts retro magenta blooms with a double-petaled, deep cup shape, and the petal edges are often decorated with slight waves. Its flower color varies with temperature, appearing in shades of red, fuchsia or pink. When the temperature is low, the flower color presents a two-layer effect, making the color more layered.
Blooming & Fragrance Traits: It is a prolific and repeat-flowering variety with a large flower output, and multiple flowers bloom on a single stem. The single flower has a long blooming period of about 7 days. It emits an elegant and faint fragrance that can only be detected when smelled closely. Its outstanding floriferous performance makes it suitable for cut flower arrangement.
