Breeder & Release Background: Bred by Delbard from France, this new variety was released in Japan in 2020 and is an offshoot mutation of the Pompadour Rose, represented by Takunori Kimura. It is named after Marie Antoinette, a famous French lady in the 18th century (the last queen of France before the French Revolution), who was passionate about roses. The naming is a tribute to this historical figure closely associated with roses. Besides, it originated from the rose down movement and was discovered and stabilized by breeder Takunori Kimura.
Plant Characteristics: It is a small shrub with slender and compact branches. The mature plant can reach a height of 150 cm. It is easy to grow and has strong disease resistance, especially high resistance to powdery mildew, showing excellent adaptability in cultivation.
Flower Traits: The flower diameter is about 12 cm, with a large number of petals. The petals overlap gently and randomly, presenting the elegant and classic appearance of an old rose. The flowers are pink, which is soft and pleasing to the eye.
Fragrance: It emits an intense and rich fragrance, a charming blend of tea fragrance, fruit scent and rose fragrance, which can bring a strong sensory enjoyment.
Growth Adaptability: It has strong heat resistance, which allows it to maintain good growth and flowering state in high-temperature environments. However, its cold resistance is relatively poor, so it needs proper cold protection measures in low-temperature areas to avoid frost damage.
